Blogs, Birthdays, and Boxes

I decided not to continue the blog Nomadically Moe as a regularly occurring post. Although it is fun to write third person through the perspective of a three inch tall, very cute, stuffed bear, I think I am more likely to sit down and write if I'm just writing as myself. This blog is more for the benefit of my friends and family than it is for the random person searching for a witty blog that they want to share with their friends. To provide a bit of recent history for you, my wife, Sara, and I recently moved from Denver, Colorado to Okinawa, Japan. We have been here for a little under two months and are still settling in. I am in the military and work at the base nearby. We both made a lot of good friends back in the Denver area and miss them all. We have made a few new friends here and are trying to find more. I figured this would be a good medium to let people know what is going on. So, on that note, here we go.

It was my birthday a few days back and all went well, not as planned, but we had fun. Sara and I woke up late and started getting the house clean and figuring out what we would need from the commissary to make me lasagna for my birthday dinner. Sara also wanted to know what to get for appetizers since lasagna does not exactly cook quickly. For those of you that know Sara, you know how she is when it comes to entertaining guests.
As you can see from the picture, she went all out. It makes my mouth water thinking about it.

Of course with all this food you have to have friends over to share it with. Well, you do not have to, but sharing the wealth is healthier. This is where things went well but not as planned. I had called our friends earlier to try to arrange a time for them to come over. I hung up the phone thinking everyone would be there around two. At about three I realized the last thing I said over the phone was "okay, I'll call you when we are ready then". Don't you hate it when that happens? Anyway, I called everyone came over and we had a good time.

As I said before, we recently moved from Colorado. A couple days ago the stuff we lived with there caught up with us. We are now the proud owners of more boxes than we know what to do with. We have housed them in the guest room and hope to make it through them all and still have room to move. I will have to let you know how this goes. For now, I need to go, the boxes are calling out to me.
